How We Build
Disaster-Resilient Engineering: We collaborate with experienced architects and structural engineers to design housing tailored to withstand regional hazards, such as earthquakes and severe weather.
Community-Led Construction: Projects are built side-by-side with local builders and community members, ensuring skills remain in the region to support future rebuilding efforts.
Hands-On Support: Dedicated volunteers work directly on-site, assisting with site preparation, excavation, and foundational labor.
Earthquake Resistant Homes in Nepal
Our housing initiative began in November 2015 following the devastating twin earthquakes in Nepal, which destroyed thousands of homes and displaced whole communities.
To ensure future resilience, our initial builds focused on engineered "Earthquake Resistant Homes" featuring a firm foundation of eight deep-set structural pillars (1.2m x 1.2m x 1.1m).
Volunteers and local builders excavated deep pillar sites and prepared concrete tie-beams directly from technical blueprints to secure the structures against future shocks.
Rebuilding continued into July 2016 and beyond, with teams laying foundations for permanent, safe housing across affected regions.
