Kingdom of Wonder

This week I would like to share about the upcoming camp at Highlands Bible College. This is a camp/ basketball tournament which invites teams from all over Cambodia. After the tournament there will be an evangelistic opportunity with sermons. Good fun.

As such, I had the privilege of training with Mick, the Philippines coach assigned to train the boys in basketball. He is also a great cook. I admit that my basketball skills are hardly amazing but it was quite fun playing and training with the boys.

Furthermore, this week is the start of the yearly Cambodian water festival also known as Bon Om Touk. It's the time where everyone celebrates the reversal of the flow of water from the Tonle Sap lake and also marks the end of the rainy season. There will be boat race in Phnom Penh and schools are closed.

Which also means that the kids were happy and the hospital is devoid of patients. How curious.... hehe

This week, we also celebrated the birthday of Vichika. She was the inspiration behind the saving Susan ministry. The sponsors found it difficult to pronounce her name. So they call her Susan instead of Vichika.

It also means cake and movie!! Which is the treat the kids were awaiting for. And also satisfy my famous liking of cake. We watched several movies including BFG. ( Big friendly Giant) They were surprised at the British references. One asked why is Big Ben called Big Ben? Er.... I don't know.

Another fun fact. Have you eaten lotus seed before? Taste a bit like peanut but more bitter. Eating it requires you to peel over the outer green covering before exposing the inner part. Not too bad I say.

Not the most beautiful flower but not bad.

Did you know that Cambodia tourism theme is called "Kingdom of Wonder"? For example, Malaysia has "Truly Asia". But you start to wonder... (hahaha) is it really a kingdom of wonder?

Within this last 3 months, I have witnessed some of the most awe inspiring sights, all at the doorstep of the hospital! It harkens my heart to the creator God who formed each and every bit of it. From the adrenaline infusing exhilaration of sports to the awe inspiring silence of full super moon. I felt peace, joy and gratitude radiating like heat from my heart.

Truly... how great thou art!!!

Believe it, that small white object is the super moon, visible even in the daylight.

This was the advent before a thunderstorm so strong the night sky flashed like a disco party but yet with the reverence of a mighty king

The pictures hardly do it justice. If this is the kingdom of wonder, surely it is a reflection of the God of wonder who is king over his kingdom.

This week will be like the advent before a busy few weeks with the arrival of Michael, Gloria, and medical missions. Please pray and praise God for all these.

  • Pray the highland camp would be successful event to praise God through Jesus Christ
  • Pray for the safe arrival of Gloria and Michael whom I await eagerly
  • Pray for the upcoming medical team, I suspect there will be huge exodus of patients to the hospital. Especially after a long festival break
  • Pray for Dr Castro and family. They seem to have much Car trouble. Also for peace in their hearts regarding the busy upcoming month.

Mall glory to God
